Prioritizing prayer is a necessary part of the Christian way of life. Children learn prayers through repetition at home. These are the basic prayers that everyone needs to learn.

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be
thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,

Apostles Creed

Act of Contrition

Oh my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins, not only because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Act of Faith

Oh my God, I firmly believe that You art one God, in three Divine Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; I believe that Your Divine Son became man and died for our sins and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches, because You have revealed them, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

Act of Hope

Oh My God, relying on Your infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Your grace and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

Act of Charity

Oh my God, I love You above all things with my whole heart and soul, because You art all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for love of You. I forgive all who have injured me, and I ask pardon for all whom I have injured.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.

Oh Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;

Prayer for Guidance by St Augustine.

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas

Lord, Father all-powerful and ever-living God, I thank You, for
even though I am a sinner, your unprofitable servant, not
because of my worth but in the kindness of your mercy,
You have fed me with the Precious Body and Blood of Your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ.
I pray that this Holy Communion may not bring me
condemnation and punishment but forgiveness and salvation.
May it be a helmet of faith and a shield of good will.
May it purify me from evil ways and put an end to my evil passions.
May it bring me charity and patience, humility and obedience,
and growth in the power to do good.

Prayer of St. Dominic

May God the Father who made us bless us.

lead us at last by God's grace to the

Prayer of Saint Christopher for travelers

Grant me, O Lord, a steady hand and watchful eye.
